fashion-season-screenshot0I’ve been a fan of Mysteries of Horus since it came out.  When I had a Palm PDA, I got hooked with Shapeshifter.  I was so hooked with it that my PDA will suddenly die down then I will use my sister’s PDA and will play it till it ran out of battery.  I remember playing it till late at night and my hand will develop cramps.  What’s the connection with this and the new game I’m going to review?  It has elements of Shapeshifter and Gem Shop (also one of my faves).

Fashion Season is a game developed by Alawar Games.  It’s not one of the latest but it’s the one I’m playing more lately.  It’s a cross of Shapeshifter where you fill in empty fields with the same shape with matching colors generating more points and Gem Shop where you have customers who purchase clothes by filling up the clothes “cup”.   A bonus level where you’ll solve a puzzle which I don’t know what’s the point for as you don’t earn coins or anything.   A clothes catalog with 16 clothes with different values which you purchase with the coins you win during the game and as bonus at the end of each level.  To sweeten the mood of your customers, you can either offer them magazines, coffee or gift.  A reminder though, they don’t refill after each level.

changelingAfter being busy for the past few weeks, it was quite a change to be able just to relax and watch a movie at home.  Marco recommended this movie so after dinner (pork chop and unedible tomato & eggs), we watched  “Changeling”.

Changeling is a drama film directed by Clint Eastwood.  The story begins in March 1928 in Los Angeles, California.  Christine Collins (Jolie) is a single mother of a 9 year old boy named Walter.  She’s working in a telephone company as switchboard manager when one day she came home later than usual to find his son missing.   She phoned the police asking for help but was initially rebuffed due to the 24 hour policy for missing persons.  At that time, the LAPD was considered a corrupt and cruel police force.  Wherein there word is law and if you contradict them, they can put you away.  Anyway, back to Christine’s missing son, after 5 months of so called investigation, the police found his son and reunited them in front of the media.  However, Christine insisted that the boy was not his son.  She presented several facts about his son such as the boy is shorter than 3 inches and uncircumcised, but the doctor which the police brought to interview the boy said otherwise.  When a reverend who has a radio show talked her into telling her story to the press, the police got wind of it and they hauled her to a mental institute and brand her as delusional.

A friend of mine was sent to Sydney for training last January and as a fairy godmother to a small community of Starbucks collectors in the Philippines, I asked her to purchase some merchandise for me.

I told her to get me two Sydney tumblers and a Sydney and Melbourne mug.  When she came back, she brought one Sydney tumbler and and Australian mug.  *sigh*  She mistakenly ordered the Hangzhou tumblers as well which I’m currently selling to interested buyers.

In any case, here are the pictures of the tumbler and mug she bought for educational purposes. 😛

To all ye Amazing Race fans, mark your calendar as Amazing Race Season 14 will begin on February 15, 8pm EST or for folks in the other side of the world February 16.  This year’s cast composed of the usual, mundane groups such as siblings, dating couples, married couples, all female beauties (cheerleader & flight attendants) and parent/child.  The reason why I say it’s usual and mundane coz after following the show since season 1, they seem to have a standard type of people that they usually choose.

Let’s meet the cast this season starting off with:

  • THE AMAZING RACE 14Tammy & Victor – siblings of Asian descent, litigation lawyers and graduate of Harvard Law.  They are smart but with two lawyers in the group would they fight their way to the finish line or be able to create a plan to outsmart the rest of the teams?  (Maybe they could speak several languages like the girl in season 10!  That would be a plus!)
  • THE AMAZING RACE 14Mark & Michael – brothers and stuntmen.  They seem to be physically fit but this race is not just physical but also emotional and mental.  Their bio said they’re mentally capable due to their jobs and can make split second decision.  They certainly are risk takers so we’ll see if they make the correct decisions to finish this race.

red_cliffAfter 2 weeks of agonizing and looking for friends to watch this movie with me. Marco, Richard, Emerson, Liza and I watched it last night at UME International Complex near the apartment. Each ticket cost RMB 50. My only comment about the cinema is it’s small and the screen was too big from where we sat. Heh!

A lookback on what happened in Red Cliff 1 can be found through this link to my review of that movie. Red Cliff 2 features the ultimate battle between the North and the South. The battle is all because of a woman which the Prime Minister would like to have but can never have. It’s not purely a war film but also an educational experience. You will see where the Chinese acquired their love for football and drinking. The way to prepare tea and read the weather. If you’re diligent, you could probably quote “Sun Tzu’s art of war”. Mulan also came into the picture through Sun Shucai who pretended to be a soldier to spy on the enemy. Homing pigeons which was a thing of the past were also used as message carriers.

tv-finalChristmas break seem to have pass by so quick!  It seems like my life has been a flurry of meeting with friends, work or going on a holiday.  I didn’t even miss that much TV and are still catching up with the last remaining episodes of my favorite shows before they ended.   It seems like I have to catch up quickly as some of the shows are already back from Christmas break or will be back in the next couple of week.

Here’s a list of popular shows and their airing date:

  • American Dad – January 18
  • The Closer – January 26
  • CSI: Las Vegas – January 15          (more…)

Am I really an old biddy that I’m behind the times or am I just too naive or inexperience to presume about exclusivity in a relationship?   My flatmate and I got to talk last night.  He went out with some friends who were in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship and they asked him if he and his boyfriend talked about exclusivity.  He then answered, wouldn’t that supposed to be a standard procedure already?  They answered no.

Then it got me thinking, do people in a relationship really need to talk about exclusivity?  What happened to trust?  This isn’t just one relationship that I know of where two people talk about exclusivity.   Is the world really changing that fast?  Maybe I should stay single to get away from complications involved in a relationship??

What’s your take guys?  Do you really talk about exclusivity with your partner?
